South Bay/LA Partnership Goals & Objectives

The South Bay/LA partnership is expanding regional and sub-regional backbone staffing and collaborative infrastructure to strengthen capacity for collaborative root cause analysis, problem-solving, and goal setting for K-16 pathways. Specifically, the South Bay/LA subregion will focus on providing services and resources to support BIPOC students in Healthcare pathways and BIPOC and women-identifying students in Computer Science pathways.

The South Bay/LA Partnership aims to:

Provide College Counseling, Peer Mentoring, Early College Prep and Credit

Reduce number of non-transferrable credits

Map student experience across disciplines and programs

Deliver Peer mentoring and wraparound services

South Bay/LA Highlights

New Funding Secured: The Compton Community Health Professions Partnership (CCHPP) received $400,000 from California Jobs First to strengthen curriculum alignment and expand healthcare career pipelines.

Staffing & Capacity Growth: WLAC hired two coordinators and a Transfer Pathways Counselor; CSUDH hired a Community Partner Coordinator to advance WBL infrastructure.

Expanded Student Pathways: CSUDH’s College of Health, Human Services, and Nursing (CHHSN) aligned all five undergraduate programs to be ADT- and transfer-ready, while UCI hosted multiple major exploration events for local high school students.

Work-Based Learning Expansion: Launch new clinical rotation sites, job shadowing, and internship opportunities supported by the CCHPP website and playbook.

Student Recruitment & Engagement: Expand mentorship pipelines and increase dual and concurrent enrollment participation in health and tech pathways.
