Long Beach Partnership Goals & Objectives
The Long Beach Region partnership is expanding regional and sub-regional backbone staffing and collaborative infrastructure to strengthen capacity for collaborative root cause analysis, problem-solving, and goal setting for K-16 pathways. The partnership is working to streamline the academic experience of students, promoting timely graduation and developing sustaining employment opportunities.
The Long Beach Partnership aims to:
Approach Health and Human Services as a meta-major
Deliver STEM and Health academics and career exposure beginning in middle school
Map student experience across disciplines/programs
Professional development for faculty in engineering and health and human services disciplines
Long Beach Highlights
Transfer Map Completed: Faculty from LBCC and CSULB finalized the Computer Engineering Technology transfer map, streamlining degree pathways for K–16 students.
Career Readiness & WBL Expansion: Expanded work-based learning through resume workshops, summer internships, and new health-focused placements with the Long Beach Community Internship Program and launched two Summer Academies for Black Students, engaging 115 middle and high school students in STEM and health career exploration.
Employer Engagement: Host a Work-Based Learning Partnership Meeting in September with LAEDC support to engage local employers and workforce agencies.
Internship & Professional Development Growth: Begin recruitment for CHHS paid internships and establish a Professional Development Fund for student credentialing and training.
Student Ambassadorship: Launch new CHHS and COE Ambassador Programs to support outreach, peer mentoring, and awareness of STEM and health career pathways.
